Lakai- Fully Flared Intro

I just found this video linked off the Motionographer site this morning and absolutely love it. It combines one of my favorite musical acts (M83), one of my all-time favorite sports, and of course lots of cool camera work and explosions!

Light & Shadow Series

I have started a new series of images that plays with light and shadow using various 3d objects and lighting created via the Vray render engine. I enjoy doing images like this every now and again as it allows me to step away from the constraints of everyday work and just play around for a bit. It’s a great way to try new things and just let the creativity flow.

iPhone & iPod Touch wallpapers

The kind folks over at Poolga.com have hosted a few of my images from the Dissonance Series that can be downloaded and used as iPhone and iPod wallpapers. Head over to check out some of the other cool images available for download including those of my buddy James White.

Vray & Exr’s

This tutorial is a simple and brief introduction into using Vray and the exr image format. It documents how render exr’s out of 3dsmax and bring them into After Effects.

The Inspiration Room

I stumbled across this recently when looking for some inspiration for my latest project; it’s a great site with lots of content to browse through. You will find demo reels from some of the best companies around, plus lots of other great works in the realms of graphic design, photography, and illustration.

Check it out.

Tutorial - Pflow & FumeFX

I have put together a quick tutorial outlining how you can use a particle flow event to drive a Fumefx simulation. Nothing fancy really but it should give you the basics into how the 2 can work together to create some pretty cool effects.

Dissonance #6

Here is the latest member from the Dissonance series. The last few pieces have been somewhat symmetrical and this one strays from that idea somewhat. The idea for this piece is loosely based on the work Alex Grey did for Tool’s ‘Lateralus‘ album art.

New Artwork

I have a found a few spare hours to start on a new project which I have been wanting to do for a while now. I have always had a keen interest in how math and art can relate to one another and how when both are combined together one can come up with some pretty cool creations.

These are the first 5 images in a series I am currently working on and I will explain the process as I get further into it. In the meantime have a look…

Real or Fake

Being visual effects artists we are always trying to make the unbelievable believable. My buddy Jon just sent me these and they are pretty cool videos showing a possible ghost caught on video. I love watching footage of anything paranormal and I’m as skeptical as the next guy when it comes to this stuff probably due to the line of work I’m in, but they are pretty convincing clips. I’ll leave you to decide if it’s real or fake.

Updates

Just another minor update to the site. Work has been fast and furious lately so my free time has been limited somewhat these past couple months. I have added a tutorial on creating snow using Pflow and neon shaders using Vray.

New stuff is going to be added over the next couple weeks. I have a few new Vray tutorials to post along with some new personal works that I have just started on.
